hullo anyone,
I started with ebb to learn php and started out with hapedit. As i have tried to troubleshoot the edit.php issues i have found that b/c php runs on the server, debugging is a pain. Since then, i am now trying out dreamweaver with their php debugger and it's not as intuitive as i would like, anyone got any better packages?
an ability to watch the stack, set breakpoints, and see variables changing is all i really need...

but i'd recommend you add a home web network to your computer if you really want to work with live php code.

I realise this topic is a bit old.. but i had to throw my two cents in on it. PHP Designer is an excellant program in which i use as well. I have used it for sometime now.. since first hearing and seeing it almost a year ago. Matter of fact i like the program so much i went ahead and forked out the $70 bucks for 2007 Professional.

To be completely honest.. i love this version of PHP Designer. The improved user interface, the addition of various very very usefull tools.. improved file handling methods.. improved DB "networking" with localhost.. all i can say is go download the trial of it. It is a full trial... but it only goes for 30 days... but if you are as picky about your work enviornment within a program as iam... then i can guarentee you will like this new version as well.
