Thought you guys may want to know where version 3 is standing at.
Currently there are still much work to be done, though in the time spent on version 3, it has already improved drastically over the previous major releases.
Much of the work that is consuming so much time with this new release is that version 3 will be near 100% object-based coded, which will make it much easier to make modulars for it once its in the final public release.
Also adding AJAX to the program is taking time as I replace a few 3rd-party scripts and also apply updates to some that have been a part of this program since it was created.
Still its too soon to name a date, estimate I have will be spring 2010, but good news is that much of the hardest work is now done, I just got some mundane things to work on, which will pay off once completed.
I plan to better keep you posted on the development of version 3, I'll try to post an update every month so you guys know whats going on.
One final note to you guys, in an earlier post I mentioned that things would be handled differently support-wise when version 3 is out. That difference will be that any and all things about version 3 will be dealt with on the development section of this site. I am working on a new system that will first be applied to the development part of the site and will then be moved to the whole website when version 3 is final.
This new system will offer much better documentation of the program as well as information on the classes used in the program so that people can better customize their boards. It'll also have a few other goodies that will improve your overall experience to the website, but more on the full details of the new website later on.
I'll keep you all posted on further updates later, again I'll try to make this a monthly thing at the very least.
Keep posting any issues you have with version 2.1, while I'm focused on version 3, v2.1 is still the stable release, and if I notice anything out of sorts, I'll be sure to apply any fixes in a timely manner, though more eyes always helps
have a happy and safe Halloween this weekend
