hello,
been a while since I last touch base regarding anything with Elite Bulletin Board. v2.1.0 development is slow going as I have been researching and testing new things for not only 2.1 but the next generation 3.0.0 release.
work on v2.1 will begin to speed up as I now have a better feel for one of the new libraries being used for v2.1 and 3.0
remember 2.1 will not be drastically different in look as it still carries the v2 core, and the feel will be altered just a tad to make it feel newer.
as of now I have added RSS feed ability to the board and has improved the PM system.
whats left to do on v2.1 is adjust the error system to make it easier, add in some ajax features, improve the user profile page, and the last piece is improving the default theme.
v2.1 will feature a new default theme, as to what it is, is too soon to announce.
v2.1.0 is estimated to be released on August 30th. It will be the final release, no beta release will be issued for v2.1 it will also be the final major release to support php 4.
a demo board for v2.1 will be available as well for new users to test out the administrative portion before they download it on their site, I know this was a request made by a few users and will happen soon.
once v2.1 is released, it will feature a new way to report bugs by having a built in bug reporter that only admin-level users can use. This will allow you to easily report bugs to me. This will be the new preferred way of reporting bugs(using the contact form will be a second option) the bug report board will be placed on the read-only category.
v3.0.0 is as of now under research. v3.0.0 will be the new generation of Elite Bulletin Board that will changing the look of bulletin boards on the web. I'm hoping to have v3 out for testing by sometime during the summer of 2009.
v3's roadmap is listed on the development portal, the release dates however do need to be updated.
